Raised in Hong Kong and having spent one-third of her time in Japan, Misato now resides in New York and is in process of completing her Masters degree in painting at the New York Studio School. She has participated in Mount Gretna School of Art landscape painting residency in 2016, Shiro Oni Art Residency in 2017, and Chautauqua School of Art in 2018. Her recent overseas exhibitions include the Hidden Beauty in Tokyo and Onishi Music Festival in Gunma, where she displayed works of sculpture, painting, and an interactive installation piece relating to her personal journey of navigating cultural diversity as well as adversity. Upon her recent experience in Chautauqua, she has begun incorporating poems to construct visual narratives in her paintings and has used ceramics feet as a guiding motif for her more abstracted works.
